I have found I can catch many crappie on a single jig but those white bass are hard on them.

Sandies ruin plastics and hand ties too , we used to have a fella in these parts that tied some bucktail jigs just for sand bass , used some kind of indestructible white stuff from a local craft shop , might have heard of him , he went by … sand bass Johnny ….darn good guide if you like them kind of fish , he has since passed away , but he was well known over near ft worth for hammering sandbass ….

I’d say that it did its job and had a good life. If my jigs last for anything close to that long I’m a happy guy, and a few have gone past that. But as already said, nothing lasts forever and bass and mudfish destroy mine pretty regular. That was a good lookin jig you made Jim and it’s still going. Good work showing through.

Look at Takeum jigs. I been using them for awhile. Get several trips and several hundred fish if I don't break one off.

Shoot bro I got one SK gave me years ago and way past a thousand fish later it looks like the day he gave it to me ….not kidding
A fella named Skip made me one I used for 3 or 4 years too ….
Life expectancy has lots to do with what bites the jig , crappie are pretty gentle on jigs most of the time

I've got several of those duck feather jigs from JJJ but use them in spawning beds where I'm not in brush and they lead to Kaboom! most of the time I keep my box of his beauties in the car if I'm not going into brush where I usually live.

used my 4 year old SK handtie yesterday btw , just kuz .....still looking prime and hammering
and still on my rod this morning as I type , when I made jigs back when , some of the jigs I thought would last a while did not and some I thought were not going to make it hung around , might just be a bit of the luck of the draw

SK makes some good hand ties jigs. Wish he still tied but nowadays he uses plastics more. Told him the other day a thumbnail pic of jigs he tied was awesome.
