Can’t remember exactly how we did it but my son and I wired the light on his direction arrow to stay on constantly and we put a toggle switch in the head cover to turn it off in the daytime. Worked pretty good the few times we night fished.

On older motors i've drilled a hole in the directional indicator & glued a red lens in it. Then i wired an led bulb inside the top of the motor & it worked great. I don't understand while all trolling motors aren't lit.
