Had an epic battle with a big blue, I’m gonna conservatively guess him at 25. Wrassled with him about 15 minutes, kept him out of the other lines. Tried 3-4 times to net him, but too long for my little net. Every time I’d try to pick up, he’d thrash and slide back out. Last time hook caught in the net and he pulled off. As long as I get my bait back I consider it a win - but would have liked to got a picture

I’m glad you played hooky for me today, cuz I sure didn’t want to go. Those are good lookin fish and even better knowing they got to be dinner. Id have run from a storm like that too. Pulling cranks will get those big whisker trout. First day I tried it I got three that would have totaled about what yours was. They’re one heck of a tussle.

I got completely caught off guard last time I went. Before I could get everything reeled in, had lightning popping all around, too close. I bought a lightning tracker app for my phone and pay attention to it now.
I was about 6-7 miles from the ramp today, looked at all the info and said nah not today!

We have called in sick a few times when the fish were biting. I remember when the base commander was calling my home the day I was supposed to be home sick. I was the Base Captain of the base personnel offices. My wife had to tell him I was at the doctor's and would call as soon as possible. She called me on my phone and said all heck is breaking loose and to call in and get there asap. It was 9/11 and Jets were crashing into New York City. I was on the lake fishing.
