I am familiar with the HAWK. I was R&R in Okinawa from Vietnam. My brother was a HAWK specialist. Spent a couple nights in a HAWK bunker. Biggest radar screen I ever seen in my life. Also worked on KD2 drones and Regulus II missiles. Don't remember much about them. NAVY used them for target practice. Navy big guns could bring the KD down but they had to call in the F8 fighters to bring the Regulus down. I was at Point Mugu Missile Center at that time.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once, and I'm still impressed. I am clueless to it's function or purpose, but still impressed.

Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
You would find this interesting. In the 80,s they upgraded the HAWK to digital. Before, the High Powered Illuminator Radar had 155 adjustments on it, and it took about 8 hours to do the weekly check. After it was digitized there were only 5 adjustments, and the weekly checks took all of 15 minutes. Quite an upgrade.
