I enjoy fishing with grandson, 13, and now that he is getting older it is even more fun. He drives the boat etc etc, I just fish and untangle his stuff when needed. I also have a best friend that I fish with a lot but will admitt that I catch lots more and enjoy being by myself also. Come and go , move when I want, fish whatever body of water I choose. Just trying to enjoy life.
I like fishing with others but most of the time I am by myself. My son lives 80 miles away so I seldom get to fish with him. Most of the time I simply meet other fisherman and just chew the fat with them. I have a rope with loops tied in them to get back in the boat if I fall in. A ladder would be better but I have tested it out and it works fine.
99% of the time I'm fishing alone, Single Poling. Single Pole fishing has a Zen to it, focusing on the tap-thump, more tap lately, presentation of the jig, positioning the boat in wind so when you hook-up you drift off location. I feel when Single Pole fishing the person closest to the trolling motor has all the advantage anyway. I do teach anglers to Crappie fish and take them fishing for "Hands On" instruction but other than Outdoor writers I'm fishing by myself most days. A good Mustang is always, always on for safety and my cell phone is waterproof.
A different angle, something Ketchn writes about but doesn't call it what it is, that is, Situational Awareness. He observes, then writes / posts what worked and didn't work. For me, if I'm fishing with someone I can miss the subtle differences that create bites and creates frowns. Funny thing, I catch as much alone as when 2 people are in the boat. Guess I'm easily distracted.
If I die from a Deadly Sin it will be Gluttony!

Like many others, I'm alone 99.5% of the time. Enjoy the solitude, actually.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.
I fish alone most of the time, I am retired and most of my friends are still working. Me and my dad usually fish some to, but when I got livescope he cannot see that well and cannot see his jig and plus he really don’t care for livescope, but I really love it…
I don't like to fish alone! Sadly, I've tried to find a fishin' buddy, for me NO luck.If there is someone in N. or NE or even E DFW MetroPlex that doesn't like to fish alone, please let me know. Of course I will split all expenses.
Kind Regards,
