I had one climb my stick ladder in Tallulah, La. on El Dorado Plantation. They used the property to re-establish Black Bears, some had radio collars some not. BTW, they run very fast. My first sight of one was a adult it ran across a food plot on me and that critter was Bookin' it! The one that climbed my ladder was smaller, made it about half way up before it realized the "Blob" on the platform was moving. Wearing a Giles Suit I had a arrow in one hand and my cell phone in the other taking pictures of the juvenile while it climbed. A experience I cherish to this day. Wildlife is very Cool, being in the middle of it is Totally Awesome. If I can find some of the old pictures I will post on this thread.

We see them pretty regularly around here. Here is a small one from 2014, almost gave my wife a heart attack when she came in to the kitchen and saw this one on the railing.
And yes, as mentioned above, don't think you can outrun one because you can't. They are FAST when they want to be.

And this came up on another site today. Maybe this will be Slab's next encounter?

Im glad we don't have them here in Texas. I only have to worry about wild hogs when I am on the trail.

We get them fairly often in our back yard. They like raiding my wife's bird feeders. They destroyed two of them just a few nights ago. When they start doing that we have to leave the bird feeders empty for a few days. A few years ago we had one come every day for about two weeks. Couldn't get it to leave. The local news came out to interview us.

Only occasionally does one come around my area here in Tennessee. I lived most of my life in Coastal Alabama. Quite a few in that area. A fella fell asleep in a box blind deer hunting. He woke up to a black bear with his head through the front window looking at him. Left his rifle in the blind and ran back to camp
