The fish in your right hand is it. You can tell by the eyes.
To borrow a bit from Captain Quint on jaws....A big crappie has big lifeless eyes...dark eyes...like a doll's eyes. You will know when he bites, the rod bends in a half circle and rolls up top with a flash of silver and a big dark eye. (I think about his quote when trying to photo a big one by myself.)
