I believe #2 gold hook is an over all good hook for minnows when crappie fish.

Painted hooks look great. I tried painting them for a while, never really got the results I wanted. Seemed powder paint cracked and fell off when the hook flexed, lacquer based did not coat bright enough, and vinyl based were really uneven and ugly. I may have to revisit it, those chartreuse ones sure look nice

if you don't prefer/use minnows it becomes way less complicated on minnow hook choices , just saying

If and when I use minnows which is very seldom i like the #2Eagle Claw 214 .

As a kind we always used 2/0 eagle claw
and 40+years later if I’m in open water and was to use minnows
I’d use eagle claw 2/0 hardly every lost a fish!
