Seems like alot of work for a panfish. I will stick with the simple filet and fry processing of crappie.

I’ve never tried it with crappie but did with white bass. It made no difference that I could tell. It might be a good way to keep the live wells from getting so nasty.

We bleed out the walleye we catch but wait until we're done fishing for the day, cut the gills and run the live well on the way back to the launch. Keeps the cutting board from getting as bloody during cleaning. Never tried it with crappie.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

When using an ice chest with ice and some water to it just throw the crappie in live and the cold water and the blood in the meat will flow to internal organs and thus white meat when filleting. Always done this in summer months when it’s hard to keep fish alive in boat livewell.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!Danny Lang thanked you for this post
