Catching and the scope

My hats off to the guys who can sneak up on the crappies and drop down on their heads and catch them!! In the last year, I have put several hours in on that thing, and I’m here to tell ya, I was wrong!! I was one of them guys who fussed about it being illegal, and how they just jump in your boat. I actually put more in my freezer before I had that thing. Granted, my boat is like a kite in 5+ winds, and unless they stay suspended when I’m 10’ away, I can’t seem to see my bait when I’m seeing the fish.

I completely understand. I am fairly new to the forward facing sonar phenomenon myself. It can be so frustrating when that screen is lit up with fish and you see your jig bouncing all around them and can't get a bite.

True, but considering they wouldn't have hit your bait anyway were you fishing w/o a forward facing sonar unit, it's not as frustrating ... plus knowing fish are there, but just won't take what you're offering, allows you the option of changing your offerings to see if they respond, which is something you might not do (and move on) if you didn't know they were there.

I totally understand !! My boat is similar in wind. Boat control & positioning is the MAJOR KEY FACTOR when using Livecope. With that in mind, always try and approach fish from the downwind position (when possible). Dropping a marker buoy off to the side of the boat can also help you reposition the boat should you get blown off position while boating a fish or changing lures or whatever.

Have not been on here in so long has to re-enter my pass word. LOL
i found several honey holes with the Active Target I would of never guessed. Under a big bridge about 12 miles from my house they used wood on both sides so the boats going through would not hit the cement. LOT OF WOOD. Ever see a cruse ship living post all the people standing off their balcony's waving. LOL Underwater with the AT looks like once of those ships crappy with their heads stuck out of the wood.
I have fun with it anyway but what I call the chase has worked more than not. Once you see a fish coming up on your jib start moving it away, VERY SLOW. Don't let him get withing a foot of your jig, moving the same speed he is coming up on it. He thinks its running from him.
IN wind its a little harder to do but on still days the way I just described it has really been a proven winner for me. If I leave it there most of the time they look at it go back down but something about that chase, just turns them on. Try that. See if it works for you.

the scope is a trick device with a really tuned in operator , but yes sir without such it will drive you bonkers for sure , been around several folks with LS and to be sure boat handling and LS handling at the same time you are trying to ketch is a beast.
even with one operating it and another dipping it can be a tough challenge .
