I did most of my primary "practice" while on the water, but did do some supplemental practice here at the apt complex ... shooting jigs under a picnic table, while sitting on top of another picnic table 20ft away.

For those with driveways, I usually say to start with a 5gal bucket laying on its side and aim to have the jig hit the pavement 6-12" in front of the bucket before going in the bucket ... then gradually work your way down to a 1gal bucket. Depending on your boat seat's height over the water's surface ... you can sit or stand during your practices.

Aim & timing of the release of your jig/line are the major factors to practice on, bearing in mind the size of the openings you're most likely to encounter when shooting the docks on your lakes.
