one old rod I really like has been hammering for around 10 years .
its a 1 pc. 7 footer and light as feather and fast as can be .
lots of backbone and one of my favorite spring flingers .
I have replaced the rod tip so many times I lost count .
not because of breakage , but because of the darn ceramics coming out .
so I went with bronze the last time and it is hanging in there .
this week it gave up and starting spinning around on the tip .
not sure what I glued it with the last time ,but it gave up too.
told myself to park her and fix it later .
grabbed her yesterday for some long casting and forgot about the tip .
first cast KABOOM big male crappie and it was on just like that .
next big fish I lost , then yet another and something just didn't seem right .
It took me a bit to remember the spinning rod tip .
kept using it instead of going back to the truck and getting another one .........
second BIG mistake ....hooked a super fish and she came to the top ...
lost my breath when I saw her and went oh my golly its a for sure monster crappie .
rod tip spun a bit again ,causing a moment of slack and just like that she was gone
less than ready gear will cause you to lose a big crappie , just saying
and silly me knows better , darn the bad luck ....
sure wanted to hold her ,looked like a garbage can lid when she rolled up on top .
won't forget that one for a while for sure
