if you are fishing spots that might be hard on the hull , you best consider welded aluminum as your first option .

True, I saw a bay boat in a Marti Gras parade last Saturday in Carencro on a triple axle trailer close to 30 feet long. Running four (4) Evinrude 225 hp EFI 4 stoke motors. 1,000 hp to get on in the fish in the Gulf.

I fish out of the panfish 16 and have added a Terrova for spot lock and upgraded graphs. I really like the boat but I would love that 1860 Alweld . It would have a lot more room and a much bigger motor. The biggest complaint I have on mine is its got a max 40 hp rating and I only have a 30 horse on it. Its a straight up 23mph boat but it does let me get in tight places with the stick steering.

I have owned a G3 stick steer for 5 years.I have also owned 2 High Tide Bug Busters with stick steer.I just love the way they fish,ride may be a little rough at times.I have owned quite a few boats over the years but keep coming back to a stick steer.The only thing I don't like on Tracker and G3 is live well in the center, other boats with it on side works better freeing up floor space.Love Alphahawks and Royal boats.

Thanks everyone for your input. I’ve done much research and narrowing the pack down. Within the next few days I’m going to take a trip to the panhandle of Florida and visit Xtreme And then go to Andalusia marine to look at Alweld and they also have a couple of royal boats. I am looking at a 1654. I think it should give a considerable amount of room and stability versus a 48. If anyone disagrees I’d love to hear from you. Thanks again everyone for their input. I've never met the guys at Andulusia Marine. But they seem to know a lot about panfish/stick steer boats. And I can't wait till I get the phone call from them to tell me boat is ready.

I will defiantly like to see it when you get sounds like an ideal rig.

Just look for a wide,open and a deeper vee to help ride.A custom builder is great because you can get what you want and also what you don't want.
