when we hit water depths here below 25 or so we often use braid . I have let them jigs fall to depths of the 40 foot plus range a few times and that is lots of mono , 40 foot of mono and stretch and quite a few folks set the hook several times per fish at that depth using mono and yes I seen it done often in deep water crappie at one location we hit.
