So, after thirty years of service, he put in his request for retirement. Shortly after sitting at home he realized he was bored. Considering a part time low stress job, he applied at Walmart to be a greeter. He was hired and began to go to work every day. After only 3 weeks he was called into the HR office and sat down for a counseling session. The HR manager told him that he was doing fine work and many customers commented on how friendly and courteous he was. But continued the HR manager, you are late every morning. He admitted he was. The HR manager asked “What did your fellow office mates say to you when you were late? He replied, “Good Morning General.”

I told that joke to a retired 3 star at my church. He chuckled and said he had to learn not to be early. He said he made it a habit to be two minutes late, giving his staff time to be fully prepared without making them wait a unnecessarily long. He said when the General arrived early, folks tended to get flustered so he spared them that.
