I dont like it. Braid sucks for abrasion resistance, so when they wrap poles I get a lot of breakoffs. That and after you catch a biggun you need to make a cast away from the dock to loosen your line on the spool otherwise it will stick and throw your "cast" off. I mean it works, I just dont prefer it by any means.

No Secrets, it’s a learning process. There are many variables to keep from getting wind knots, even the professionals still get wind knots time to time.

While surf fishing in Mexico, we only used topwater lures 2 oz. To 4 oz. We fished braid in order to get the distance beyond the breakers, sometimes exceeding 100 yards. Believe me I’ve had bad experiences with braid, after doing research I learned many tips and ended up really liking it.

Try Google for prevention of wind knots.

Good luck Braid and wind knots

Tip guide style and size also inters into the problem. Also I apply some line conditioner before each trip. I also have only micro guides on my rods. I use Fireline orginal in solar color exclusively for the last 25 years.

Take the slack out of the line before reeling. A small pull or slight lift is usually all that is needed.

I use braid for casting and dipping. Never have problem casting. It’s dipping that gets me. Just like that get wrapped around the tip no matter how hard I try not to.

    Default Braid and wind knots

The smaller the braid the more trouble.
I use it casting for bass or red fish when I go down to the gulf. ( 50-60 lb test )
On my jig pole I’ve gone to hi-vis50 lb test with a 10 lb or smaller leader. For pitching or vertical jigging. Should also add , I use the Alberto knot to tie braid to mono.

You’re going to get what you pay for when it comes to braid. I tried about every braid on the US market for about 3 years starting back in 2010. Used NanoFil for about 18 months straight when it came out. The NanoFil gave me the best casting distance one can get using a 1/64 ounce jig. But it had its problems. Tried some cheap JDM braid. No difference between it and most US market braids. Then I finally stepped up to some premium Japanese braid. It is a game changer. It is the Varivas Infinity X8 PE in 5.6# test with a diameter of .070mm. This line is as thin as it comes. No wind knots….no issues. Casting distance is great and knot strength is superb. The line has a marker system every few feet so you can see it. I highly recommend it.

    Regards

I seem to have problems when I put too much on my spool, less is better, but you'll lose some casting distance that way.
