These things are only protected by the migratory agreement between us and Canada. A person can apply for an exemption with the wildlife fish & game of their state and be allowed to hunt them. These birds are considered an invasive species with almost no natural threat. I would imagine an exemption would be pretty easy to get.

On another note: We have a ramp that is just below Wilson dam on the Tennessee. This ramp gets infested at times with turkey buzzards. These things can pick a vehicle clean of its rubber seals in an hour. Occasionally they close that ramp for a couple of days and when they open it the buzzards are miraculously gone.

I have seen a few vehicles attacked by those things. Stripped clean even the wipers.
