I can remember wayer back farther than that when you had to mark your spot by a stump or log and if there was none, you had to kinda mark it by something up on the bank like a gray tree or something hanging in a tree like an old blue raincoat or something like that.

Names of some of my favorite places on the lakes near me are all named for some marker…….Randy Log, Bean Shooter Tree, Tall Tree, Sucker Rod, Preacher Stump, Johnson Hole, Log Jam, Coffin Rock, Oil Can, Mossy Oak, Short Stump, Sickamo, Boy Scout, 3 Stumps, Green Stump, Bouy, Far Buoy, Lost Bouy, Daisy Cove, Iron Rod, Naked Lady, Playground, Horseshoe, Behind the Island, Pointed Stump, Mike & Mike, Huckabee Hole, Blue Raincoat, Titty Rock, Power Line Hole, Jeff Hole, Steve Flat, 10.5, Site 53, RV, And Laird Hole just to name a few of our regulars. Some are marked on GPS, but it’s not necessary for me to find them. Been there, done that soma y times before.

Just some thoughts on this new Livescope style of fishing……I don’t own one and probably not gonna get one. Yes, it would help me find fish, but I still like fishing and hunting em and trying several spots just as much as catching em the easy way. My dad likes to go try these spots out anyway, so we gotta try the old Bean Shooter & Tall Tree whether we have 1 or 59 already in the live well.

Let me tell you about the Naked Lady Hole. My good friend P.R. and I were fishing on a brush pile when two girls on a party barge, mid 20s, came very close to us and dropped anchor…….never said a word. Then, they both went to “takin it off.” They both had on bikinis underneath, but just seeing them shucking out of their Tshirts and shorts was quite a memorable experience for sure! They knew exactly what they were doing too…..they enjoyed messing with us two old fat guys in the fishing boat. They swam a while, then laid out and suntanned a while, then they swam again and left. Probably stayed a couple of hours and then they left…….and took my heart with them.

With that kind of scenery the fish don't have to be biting
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
