I pull weights on Ky Lake. I find 1-2 oz weights cover any depth range on ky lake I need to cover. It is easy and 30ft max line out behind boat still gives a good tight turn. I run 10 to 30 feet out the back. Just like pushing and you don't have bent poles bobbling up an down. I don't care about reeling in 100 ft line with a 6 inch fish on as a prize.

Like everything else worthwhile, it takes practice and patience.

I go heavy, 5-7 oz but I push at the same time I pull cranks so faster too. Also the area I like to fish is frequented by wake boats and big cruiser that throw 4 ft wakes. Heavier weight keeps the baits down and out of the trolling motor.
