    Hi Jerry,
I got the plain 76. from looking at the manual, I think I can set it up as you recommended. Thanks for the tips and the links for the hardware and software. This will be one heck of a learning experience for this old bird. Oh, I do have the cable for downloading waypoints on my puter.

Hey, Cane Pole. I doubt if I can ever be as proficient with this thing as you guys, so there will undoubtedly be questions till I learn my way around. Hope ya'll don't mind. Have a great day, Fellows.

    I have two hand GPS.
One I got me waypoints on. The other I make tracks on. I use the tracks to go exploring, then delete all the tracks after a trip. It's easy. Just don't get the GPS units mixed up. ha

Canepole, I know you are a tech nerd and I sure don't know much about GPS but why use one for just tracks? I only have one, GPS 72, low tech, with my waypts which I use the pointer page to take me to my spots. The only bad part about it is that you need to be moving at a lttle speed for the pointer to point in the right direction, however the dist to next seems to read at a lower speed so I just keep it counting down. When I'm pulling CB's I just go to the map page which gives me tracks and I can retrace my troll. After that I just delete my traces and can start over next time. All I use mine for is fishing so no exploring, what am I missing?
