Technique question

Seems like semantics to me. Hard to figure at what point one ceases to spider rig and begins to push. We just call it all trolling. People I fish with do differentiate between pushing and pulling. Longlining seems to be in a class by itself. We generally push minnows or jigs, pull cranks, or long line jigs.
