    Default Winter time creek crappie

I sure love to wander the creek in the winter time . Creek crappie ketchn under a float is about some great entertainment . Now mind you accurate casting is a must and you best take extra floats and jigs in a fair supply , but in the end when the float goes down and you rip a lip .....
Priceless is the word that comes into my mind . The fish were tight to cover in water depths of anywhere from 2 plus feet deep to about 4 or 5 feet deep . They wanted it really slow and or just lightly twitched .
There were no large fish in the mix and they numbers were so so , about 75% black crappie and 25% white crappie and one lone bluegill .
They seemed to like the new limits tackle tear drop in a blue with sparkles the best out of the multiple jigs I tried .
I also did pretty well on a pearl color slightly larger plastic as well
It was really chilly and a little rain drizzle and I jumped at least a half dozen deer in my wandering .
The fish were all released and it was my lunch break and back to work I went .
As an avid outdoors person I can truly say it was bigtime good stuff for totally sure
    KABOOM was the word

You certainly had fun for a lunch break. But I've turned into a fair-weather fisherman in my old age so it takes a week or so of cold before I can get myself back on the lake. Then cabin fever takes over enough that I can brave the cold to catch a few.

don't have any obvious creeks to hit with any water deep enough close by me but this sure makes me want to explore more and find some. Good time for sure and WTG Outlaw.

Nice catches. Small stuff on a float has been the most productive method around here in recent days. The bobber would go under very slowly and I would have to let them take it for a bit before setting the hook. Even then, several were just barely hooked. I've caught nothing on moving lures. Too cold recently.

    that tree .....them trees ....
the one tree did hold some better fish , all kidding aside .
but to be sure it was around a mile off the road before i found any with some size on them .
the first 3/4 mile of the walk were potato chippers on every tree ....

they might not be very big right now in that creek right now because the world has descended upon them up in there and any thing big enough to keep has been kept ....
but the good news is they are beautiful , spunky and in numbers even if they are the mostly
    leftovers and under sized fish
