You will get many answers about whether to use braid or nylon. A good inexpensive 2 pound test line is Trout Magnet SOS. It has a diameter of .166mm and actually breaks at 3.75#....casting distance is good....lots of stretch.....no manageability issues. As to using braid or nylon I use both depending on situation.

Stren Crappie 2 lb works very nicely. Easy to see for knots and not badly priced.

Nice video, Elmo and all LOL. But I use a cheap line spooler, the plastic box with holes in the bottom for the line to come out. Keep a lot of tension even if I have to add cardboard pieces to "shim" the spools in the box to keep them tight against each other. I have no idea as to the manufacturer's process of applying the label so I just go with clockwise facing me. I don't think clockwise is critical but the tension is.

Spool the line on the reel with tension and don't overfill. Works for me. As fishermen/women we tend to over think stuff.

Thank you Bill Bob and all the veterans . Your service is appreciated.

I always put it on wrong. I've got skills. I can use identical reels and spool one with label up and one with label down, leave 1/8" of spool showing, close the bail by hand etc. And BOTH of mine will be wrong. Been doing it this way for years.

Truthfully, I do get it wrong a lot. But it does get worse when casting a lot. Every so often, stop casting. Let the jig hang in the air and watch it spin.......trying to unwind itself. Allow it to untwist, then open the bail and let the jig go to the bottom. Wind up again and see if jig still wants to spin.

To stop the line from jumping... Don't fill it so full and really hold the line tight with a hand in front of the reel with drag run down really right.....line twist is whole nother issue.

I use mono year round and never have any trouble with it. When putting fresh line on I start with the label up. Turn 10-15 cranks on, then pull about 2-3 feet off the spool. If it twist as I'm reeling it back on I flip the spool and continue filling. When you start getting close to full open the bail and pull a little line off, if it jumps off the spool continue pulling until it no longer jumps off. If it doesnt jump off I put 15-20 cranks more on and check again. I use several reel brands both cheap and expensive and this method has always worked for me.
