Darryl,
Not sure what you are trying to do or expect from connecting a 997c Si to your computer but the only means of doing so would be to take the NMEA Output from the unit to the PC. I have some documents on this that I could e-mail back to you if you kit me with one first.
I know that at a minimum you will need the following to set up a second station for the 997c Si unit.:
- 540165-2 900 Series Connector Collector (the thing that holds the cable connectors to the unit). Will have to be ordered directly from Humminbird’s Customer Resource folks.
- PC-10 Power Cable.
After this you will have to answer some questions before I can detail what you will need (I am assuming that your first unit mounting location will be on the console and the second is at the bow):
1.) How are you wanting to mount the 997 to your boat? I ask this because if you were to get one of the removable mount systems (like a RAM mount), you would bolt the unit mounting bracket (a gimbal bracket) to the RAM and it would move with the RAM from the console to the bow and into your gear bag. This is what I would recommend doing and it will save you a few dollars from buying a second gimbal and you won’t have to mess with the unit mounting knobs every time you want to move the unit.
2.) What transducer were you wanting to run the 997 unit off of at the bow? If it is the same Side Imaging (Si for short) transducer that it is connected to at than you would need the US2-W Unit Switch to connect one transducer to two units (or in your case; two unit locations).
3.) Where are you planning on mounting the Si transducer that comes with the 997? Many are mounting that big (6+ inches long) and expensive ($200) Si transducer up higher than the bottom of the transom to keep it protected.
4.) Are you going to try and get high-speed readings from the 997 unit and if so will it be with the Si transducer or a second transducer inside-the-hull DualBeam transducer?
5.) Are you wanting GPS at both the console and the bow? If so than I recommend buying the AS-SysLink cable that will allow two units to share one GPS antennae.
I think that about covers it.
