    Hi Ketchn

i do have some line twist, a few times when i cast a few coils come off the spool. not good, will look into this reel magic or possibly a line conditioner

and as stated my friend , full spool , 1/8 from even to the edge is the ticket . more will foul when you cast and less will reduce distance .

My youngest son uses a 5'6" Shakespeare micro series light action with a smaller Shimano sienna reel,4lb test. Casts a long way. Whole combo easily under $50

Took the words right out of my mouf!

Neither rod or reel is high end or pricey but they do a good job paired together. 1000 series reel and a 5’6” or 6’ rod would be my choice. I keep one in my collection for the newbies.
