My wife and I caught huge numbers of crappie using #2 and #2-0 hooks. Crappie don't have a problem getting large hooks in their mouths and large hooks are a lot easier to remove from their months than the smaller hooks. However, my current favorite jig size for crappie is a 1/64 th so the smaller hooks also work quite well, just are harder to remove. Also found some huge bass also love the 1/64th crappie jig.
