Longlining Baits....What Are You Using?

Getting ready to head back to Lake Talquin in the Spring and was wondering what you type of lures you guys use longlining. We typically use SP Grubs but wondered if any of you guys used other lures with good success.

CB Sliders work great! Along with BGBS straight tails. Crankbaits....creature baits.....they all work.

I don't longline troll with multiple rods, but I do Push jigs with them ... and the most successful type of lure I use is the boot tail grub, specifically (2") Slabanator Booty Thumpers & (1.5") Charlie Brewer Sliders. They've worked well for me at Taylorsville & Green River Lake.

When I do actually longline troll, it's with one rod (in hand) and I'm using a 1/16oz marabou Road Runner (Pink). But that's mainly during the pre-spawn period, and when I'm moving from spot to spot down a bank.

I prefer Sliders and Bass Pro Shops Cajun Critter for longlining.

SP Hot grubs and CB Sliders for me, but lately I've been tying on some of my hand-ties, and they work well, too. I use the plastics mostly anyway, for economy and convenience. Single poling? Another story. Hand ties all the way.

My go to longline baits are curly tail grubs like the Pico Lures Curl Tail, Bobby Garland Strollers, and a 3 inch grub I buy at Ken's Tradewater Bait Company. I use Pico Bunny Butts if I want a more subtle jig. I do use a bunch of horse-head jigs with willow leaf blades and Pico Wedgehead jigs with sickle hooks.

I always use a scent lure like Slab Sauce or Crappie Nibbles.

My go to jigs for pulling are Bobby Garland Strol Rs and the Jenko Curly fry.

Double 1/24ths on 4# line. Variety of curly tails in lots of colors. Orange has become a favorite in any color combo. Big Bite Baits (fat grubs and boot tail minnows), Slab Head Baits (Facebook), and Sliders are favorites!
