Multiple threads were started on this. It is the talk in crappie world right now. There doesn't seem to be a easy solution to a problem that will probably always be around somewhere. To me this guy lost big time and a lifetime ban seems fair. No reason to completely destroy this man and family with criminal charges. Tournaments will always have the risk of cheating. Lets not dwell on it but move on to better things. Fall bite is on and winter fishing is almost here. Everyone ready for it?

I beg to differ. What was asked was, “If the conversation is stopped, how can anything positive be gleaned?”

I know, but it's still an odd way to begin your CDC membership.

Read the "tournament cheater" threads as a lurker. Then, when the threads are closed, join CDC and start a thread asking why they were closed.

I understood closing the threads. I am sure they were not closed due to any outside pressure to close them. This is a very classy site - rare to find in the world we live in.

    Things I enjoy

    1. Prayer request for people that are hurting.
    2. Prayer request for people that are hurting.
    3. Prayer request for people that are hurting.
    4. Looking at images of great fishing trips.
    5. Reading how people catch crappie in different areas of our great land.
    6. Seeing people come together and enjoy the great gift that has been giving to all of us in the USA and discussing their events that have happened because of the ease of finding like minded people on crappie.com. "Crankfeast etc"

I do think the topics could of been left open a little longer though. Crappie tournaments like all things that are growing and are successful have growing pains and will have to adapt. This is a huge wake up call. If people feel they can not win tournaments because they feel like the people that win cheat less and less people will fish them. I feel like they handled this correctly but in the future new tactics have to be installed to limit the possibility of cheating this venue. I am sure they are aware of this and will update their system.

Anyway this thread will loose its luster over natural time and the topic will not be discussed as the crappie world moves on and people that have thought about cheating in the past have learned that it might not be a good idea to do so in the future.

Here’s the thing. Something WAS done, the cheater WAS caught, and WAS dealt with. Kudos to Crappie USA! I’ve fished several club tournaments with the East TN Crappie Club. I did so with no thoughts of financial gain. My goal was to learn, and I accomplished that goal. After every tournament, the top teams revealed their approach. Not their GPS coordinates, but their approach to finding fish and how they caught them. These are very good Crappie fishermen and my entry fee was money well spent for the information received. Bad people are out there, but so are good people! I choose to seek out the good people, and that’s why I hang out on this website!

IMO some positive comments have been received here, I'm feeling better and hopefully others are to, I'm changing the subject and would like to get your choice if you have one on your favorite cheap mono fishing line. Hi vis and weight etc. And yes I know I opened a can of worms!!

I use Mr. Crappie hi vis and have good success, I buy it at Wally World, it’s cheap for a decent size spool.
