I actually have three, one like in your picture 9” one 6” for carry around in my pant pocket for portability and one metal to stay in a boat. It is a must for me since I normally don’t bring a net with me and yet I have three nets. These grip is good especially bass fishing in kayak, I leash it to a hook on my kayak so I can grip and let the fish in water while preparing camera/scale.
That's most of the reason I carry one considering the fact that I don't use lures with treble hooks.Quote:

Of course the large barbs on catfish can inflict some serious pain making the jaw grip especially useful.
(Caught a carp that size from my canoe and it towed me upriver as if it wasn't even hooked. Talk about a really dumb fish.....)

I am a believer that ONE HOOK rigged on a DROP SHOT will catch you enough Crappie dinner for two. AT my age that many treble hooks flying around near my hand with an angry fish on the other end is just asking for the fish to put those hooks in your hand. As for those larger fish the floating gripper will help keep those hooks away from you.
