The cost of the live scan, boat to put it on, truck to haul the boat with, is a decent price. Add to that fines, and loss of work, loss of privileges, loss of property seems like a it would be prohibitive to those who want to poach fish.

Unfortunately from experience, some NOT all of the ones that can afford all of that are the worst offenders. I know of a few snowbirds who actually brag about over fishing while here and when you report them the FWC doesn't have the time to investigate it. All we can hope for is that those who follow the rules are enough to keep the fish around.

Live Scope is a tool only, I use mine to check out tree tops and underwater trash for fish- but- I was going to fish it anyway. The novelty of watching your bait go down and watching a fish come up to it, is cool but that's what is selling them. I bought mine for the real time viewing and showing the distance to the object, without it going bye and of site, on my reg. Finders. It is perfect for that. I side scan to find my trash or tree tops, then use my LS to pin point it, If fish are present, that's great. My 2ct'.

I am not sure if one could overfish with such technology but to be sure there is always one out there somewhere that will try to.
