Thanks and thanks for the thread. It's a very timely thread for me. I picked up somewhere close to 500 lbs of wheel weights from a local shop this morning. I'm definitely going to get a respirator for me and my son if he helps me. I didn't use one when I melted down the last lead that I got. I used fans to pull quite a bit of air through the shop while I was working, but you can't be too safe with this stuff.

I highly recommend getting a thermometer that will read over 800°F ...

Lead melts at 621.5°F (321.5°C)
Zinc melts at 787.2°F (419.5°C)

You will not be happy if your slurry temp gets hot enough to melt a zinc wheel weight that you accidentally missed in sorting ...
