No bend, seen too many with a permanent bend. Composition doesn’t matter to my way of thinking. After seeing so many it’s just the way I take care of things. I also loosen the drag so that the drag discs don’t become compressed and not work as they should. Been using the same cheap reels for 20 years plus and the drag still works good. A little on the front end means no repairs or replace on the back end.
