I don't know as I'd refer to that as a "vertical cast", so as not to confuse it with Vertical Casting ( Crappie Pappy Article ) ... though I suppose you "could" use that rig in the Vertical Casting technique.
It is, plainly & simply, a pre-rigged double minnow/live bait setup with wire extenders to keep the baits out away from the central line. It's primary function is to be used with a stationary technique, but can be used in techniques that involve slow movement.
I probably have some of them in my tackle, somewhere, but never got around to using them because it's just as easy to rig a similar setup with loop knots ... and not have any "metal" components in the rigging. And with loop knots, you are more apt to break one of them if you get hung up, whereas with the pre-rigged setup you could lose the entire rig. (not to mention the ability to utilize different hook sizes, a jig & hook, or two jigs when using the loop knot rigging)![]()
