In the Summer, I put a pipe cleaner in the pee hole for the Daubers. Have had this problem several years ago when I learned what they were doing. Just don't forget to take it out before you get to the water. jmo.

    For the mud bees:
Tell your work/boss/wife that you need to leave 2 hrs early everyday to use it! I can write you a note and sign it, although I have -0- credentials, if you think this scheme would fix the problem.

LOL! Yep....can't beat that ole' Tamsulosin! Anyway, I use to replace my water pump (impeller) every two years when I was running full out through the seasons. And that one you show there definitely NEEDS to be replaced. Don't take any chances. You will just not notice when it all of a sudden stops peeing. That will cost you a new engine!

I love the idea of the weed wacker string for clearing out the tube! Had to use a high pressure air hose on my little 8 hp this fall before firing it up. The wasps just totally blocked the tube.

Just FYI, I replaced a bad impeller on my 40HP Yamaha and it still would not pee. The weep hole was clear, so I took it to my shop. He said little chunks of the rubber from the vanes had gotten lodged in the water passages. Took him about 2 hours to finally get all that out and get it peeing again.
Flomax didn't work either, by the way!

After installing your new parts be sure to shoot compressed into the pee hole! Now if only that would solve my problem too, this old geezer recognizes an impeller and understands the Tamulosin reference. Not to mention Avodart.

A little shot of air down the pee hole will ensure that the water passage is clear of any rubber pieces.

An impeller should be considered preventative maintenance, change them every couple years even if they're working fine. Could save you a lot of money and frustration.
This right here. I change mine out every 2 years when I fished salt water every year . Cheap maintenance
