A friend in TN used to deal with dauber too often. He whittled a small piece of dowel to fit in loosely but snug enough to stay. Drilled a hole in the other end and added a piece of nylon string that was tied off close by to catch it when the motor fired up, and held it ready to be used when he got home. Best solution I’ve ever seen for this.

You caught the impeller just in time. Everyone’s advice is sound. I hope you looked at which way it turns for the reinstall. You’ve probably done them before. Is the housing OK? Salt and sand can do in the housing. Your impeller doesn’t look terrible though it had failed. If you look and find tiny chips missing be very diligent in making sure there aren’t any blockages. Good thing we didn’t use it Tuesday.

LOL! Yep....can't beat that ole' Tamsulosin! Anyway, I use to replace my water pump (impeller) every two years when I was running full out through the seasons. And that one you show there definitely NEEDS to be replaced. Don't take any chances. You will just not notice when it all of a sudden stops peeing. That will cost you a new engine!

I love the idea of the weed wacker string for clearing out the tube! Had to use a high pressure air hose on my little 8 hp this fall before firing it up. The wasps just totally blocked the tube.
