I have been able to slow down by doing this . Rid my tackle box each spring of those things not used in two years . Give it to needy kids that need a start into fishing (including reels ). The second .Matthew 6:19-21

NO it never ends at 70 years of age I can attest to that. I have a 24 X 32 Garage with one boat both just filled with tackle. Also a 12 X 22 shed only 8' of it taken up by jig tying supplies. Two huge garage sales last year. Although both successes and I sold a ton of stuff. It barely dented what I have built up over the years. I have two 401 K s. One of them is the boring one. The other looks like tackle and in value is larger than the boring one.

Flea market dealer called about" buying it all " from Craigs List. Wife told him you can't afford all. He arrived looked around and said she's right. He bought 24 rod display unit. Each slot filled with a rod and reel combo. My buds call my garage Cabela's minus the huge aquarium.

There is no cure that I've heard of but it seems to only get worse over time.

There is one cure I know of. Unfortunately, it comes with a pine box and a 6 foot deep hole. I have enough tackle for my children's children & I don't even have any kids. Just sayin' Enjoy the ride.

    Rules to live by:

    1. There is only ONE location that all of your tackle should reside together in (the boat). Other than that, you should NEVER allow more than 2 tackle boxes to be side by side at any one time. People will begin to think you have an issue (significant other)!

    2. Fish are always going to be biting on something you don't have. So... if you don't have it, you should probably buy it!

    3. Although it might be easy to ensure you know what you don't have, do not, under any circumstances, photograph all of your tackle. Again, this is evidence for the ones that don't understand. Best to purchase it an have an extra one then leave evidence laying around.

    4. Never purchase just one of something. Always buy 3. You have one to try out, the second one in case they are really biting on the first, and the third as a backup!

    5. Never compare your addiction to that of purchasing shoes... Shoes never put food on the table (unless, well, I can't say it but you know what I mean)

    6. Never use the following words to significant other: "But (insert friend's name) has way more than I do". Especially if she is friends with (insert names) wife. You CAN however blame anyone else on the internet that you have not met. IE "WicklundRH has way more stuff than I do".

    7. The next question will usually be: "If WicklundRH jumped off a bridge, would you"? Just answer YES and move on!

Fun things to do at a baitshop:
If you hear a guy asking what they are biting on, run over to a rack, grab ALL of a single color of baits, walk up to the counter and pay for them. Then say "We have been flat killing them on this bait". Offer to sell him a package for double what you paid for it"!

My wife paid to send me to a therapist for this very addition, she couldn't figure out why it was getting worse the more section I went to. She didn't know that the therapist she sent me to had the same problem. All I can tell you is don't be a quieter. Look at it as being an investment in your future
