If interested, I'll go into detail. Believe me IT WORKS! I've caught over a hundred fish on each repaired rod with no sign of weakness.

If you don't mind, start a new thread? I have a 10' west point rod I broke from snagging a jig. Splintered the receiving end.
Was thinking about cutting off the splintered part, wrapping thread on it. You've given me some hope about how to salvage it.

Will do. I know the feeling all to well having lost rods that caught many fish over at least 5 years, with a tear in the eye as I put them out for p/u.

Thanks for all the suggestions,I've decided to repair vs deal with other options.The fracture was just over 12" from the tip,and a1/4" upstream of an eyelet.After trimming the rod at the eyelet,I began trimming the broken end of the tip section until it would insert into the larger eyelet end.
The fit is very snug,allowing me to insert 1",my thoughts are,the eyelet is wrapped and epoxied from the factory,that is where my insert is,the wrapped eyelet should be very Strong.I epoxied the tip into the eyelet end,let it dry,and gave it a good bend test,it seems to be just as strong,and has no noticeable flat spot.
After measuring,I've lost six inches or rod length ,( not happy about that ) and I'm not sure how much effect it will have on it being an original light action,perhaps it's now a medium light ?Anyhow,I will need to land some fish to give me some confidence in the repair,but as of right now,unless you feel the repair spot,it is not noticeable to the eye.Im hoping to try it out Friday,I will give an update on its performance,fingers crossed,fish on!
