Precisely why I quit using glue on hollow tubes and went to solid tubes & all other plastics. I got tired of having to cut/retie a new jig & glue another tube on whenever the gills finally bit off all of the skirt strips. And to make the old jig usable again, I had to whittle on it with a pocket knife to get the glue & plastics remains off the jighead.
Now I just replace the plastics when the tail gets bit off, or the body gets torn up so bad it won't stay on the hook .... but, that usually takes catching a good number of fish on it, first. I have been known to cast & catch fish on the same jig/plastics for a couple of trips or more before that happens, though. Not always, but occasionally.
