After reading a number of articles (mostly regarding ice fishing) saying that trout flies can be a very effective bait for panfish. I was hoping they would work for crappie when I filmed this video. I have seen a bunch of trout fishing videos of the mayfly lifecycle, which is a very common pattern here in the Midwest. The videos make it seem that mayfly nymphs could be a good food source for crappie. My question is has anyone ever tried this technique and if so how did you fish it? Any size to the fish?

Hope you enjoy the video as always!
