Visited the old local creek spot on my lunch break yesterday . Started out thinking I was about to get it handed to me . The rain from the day before had the water slightly cloudy and after numerous pitches it wasn't looking good . Thought well maybe they cant see the bait I was using and opted for a bright yellow white bait we call a small fry . The color name is the GO TO and by golly I am glad I went to it ...
The fish also wouldn't tolerate much movement and wouldn't take it still either . I used a technique I call minnow flicking and this is something that's very subtle . When you twitch the float , you only make it barely send out rings and you do it 3 to 5 times and let it sit.
The last 2 weeks lots of jumping it around got bit ,but as I have seen down there before this was a day they wanted it to just flicker a tiny bit and then rest . So after a bunch of casts early on and nothing to show for it , the show began . Was fun once again and 2 different anglers who came by got some given to them , the rest swam on .
16 to 18 inches deep on the jig under the float and they were in 3 to 6 foot of water behind cover . Still not ketching any whites but to be sure its a matter of time before I hold some of them as well .
probably managed around 20 fish and about half were keepers in an hour ....
stay tuned but don't stay thirsty yawl![]()
