Cane pole can you do the same thing with long line 1/32, 1/16, 1/8 jigs and combinations of them at 1.0 would be AWESOME for beginning long liners

Yes. I will be doing roadrunners with 1/2 oz weight first. That is what I mostly use. Don't have to put so much line out. I will be using line counters. Presently I cast out then measure (pull line at a arms length) out line til jig starts tapping the bottom. This puts me in the ballpark and is easy to do. I only use 4 poles long lining. after all, I am a seniors senior. I cast out first line and set. I cast next out, the strip 2 pull (bout 6 feet), Cast out 3rd and strip pull 4 times, cast out 4th and strip 6 times. This set the jigs at different depths. Ima looking for the sweet spot. This is the starting point setup. Strip line varies from here as frustration sets in. ha

This is how I do it. I don't know others routine. I never longline fish with anyone except myself. This in itself is a lot of company. Great conversations.

I just been casting out all same length but would be nice to know what depth the different size jigs were running say with a 60 ft cast which would be about Normal

I can only read back about 35ft max. Like I said, I use a inline weight or a crimp weight. Speed will control the depth. I will be charting this stuff. I try to limit line out so to allow for much better boat control. I have lots of coves in my area and it hard to long line hotspots if you have too much line out. I catch as many at 30 ft as I do 60 foot. But, that is just me. Lately, the fish have only one daddy. The ones I catch are 7-8 inches mostly. Must be the same daddy DNA. That my theory. It is as good as any out there.
