No Luck - you didn't state what your budget range is for this rod? Rods vary in price tremendously, so give us a clue as to what you are wanting to spend. Middle of the pack would probably be rods from B n' M. They've been in the crappie rod business probably longer than most of the retailer's out there. I drop shot a lot (but for smallmouth), so I know what a decent DS rod should feel like. Look for a rod rated with a "medium light" action. Needs to have a sensitive/responsive tip, but enough backbone to set the hook properly.

For just crappie fishing, I'd have you take a serious look at the B n' M SHSS (Sam Heaton Super Sensitive) in the 7' length. Even the 9' in this rod would work well for drop shotting gills. This rod would probably set you back abut $50.00. There are plenty of rods more expensive - and less expensive. Which is why a budge range is helpful to giving you suggestions.
