where do the big crappies spawn?

I live up here in wis I can find the 9-11 in crappies beds. But the big slab I can't find . The too lakes I fish are stained with no weeds, I find the big ones ice fishing in 20-25 ft then the ice goes and the big ones go. plezzzzzzzzze help.

Down here in the south I have the best luck (when water levels are stable ) catching the big ones in 1-3 feet of water in very thick cover. It will usually be a hole in the weeds about the size of a 5 gallon bucket at the base of a tree. Using jigs.
