I have tried most everything listed above and it all works. The biggest fish I ever caught on 2# line was a 15# flathead. When it comes to line it is mostly personal preference and confidence in what you are using. That being said I mostly use a braid with a swivel and 3' piece of Trilene tied to the lure. I use the braid because I jig a lot of deep water and the braid lets me feel the bite better as it does not stretch. I tie the mono to the end because for me I have noticed a difference in the number of bites I would get if my jig was tied directly to the braid. I should mention that I use almost exclusively bait casting reels. It must work because I have a lot of pics posted but as I said it is mostly what you like and are confident with. Jigging in 50' of water I need all the help I can get. Just my 2 cents worth and you are probably only getting half value on that
