Make sure it's something that will last. Hate to only get a year or two out of some of the brushpiles that break down

Christmas trees , bamboo , and small brush are not worth the time . Bigger trees and stakebeds are the way to go . Been checking stuff we sunk during this drawdown and stakebeds out of heavy Cedar or Hardwood are the best .

this is true on the light brush piles for sure .....most seem to be about gone after a year er so .....good news for them folks that find them instead of sinking them ....LOL

I find that the best baiting you can do to a BP is you add some fresh willow or whatever brush you like to use. Baiting out a spot will usually bring in the bait, but will also bring in the catfish. carp, and gar. I made the mistake of sinking a 5 gal bucked full of soured milo next to one of my best producing bp's and ruined it! For months after that all I ever caught off the bp was 4-8" bluecats. It always had tons of bait and bait balls around it. And Gar.. man I never seen so many gar hangin around in one place. That was a few years back and the bp has never been the same. As fresh brush grows moss that attracts the bait and its all you need.
