the only reason for the pole to be 6' or 6'6" would be for accurate casting to stick ups and the like, and unless I'm mistaken a shorter rod is more accurate for this use

if I'm wrong someone please set me straight, I have looked at these rods you folks have listed, I want one of each lol

    again thank you all
Personally, I don't think the longer rods would detract from accuracy, at all. There may be a short learning curve, as far as getting used to using a longer rod ... but, unless you've never used a rod longer than 6'6", it shouldn't be much of a change.

Pappy I have 3 11 ft BnM SHSS rods and love them but to me I'm more accurate with a shorter pole, I will look into a longer pole for cork fishing maybe one of each

    again thank you all

Yeah, I wouldn't go so far as to use a 10' or longer rod as a primary slip float rod, but a 7 or 8ft long rod wouldn't be near as unwieldy. And it would give you more length to lift slack with.

You might even consider a 7.5' BnM Crappie Wizard IM7 rod ... I believe it to be a good rod, at least the one I held long ago seemed to be. I wasn't real thrilled about the painted tip, and don't know if they still have that ... but, you could check with BnM and see, if that makes any difference to you.

And by the way ... If I WAS using a rod longer than 8' for slip floats, I probably wouldn't be "casting" with it ... as much as I'd be "flipping" or underhand pitching with it, depending on the distance of the target and the "congestion" of the area.
