What length do you use? And does it work in 10mph wind? (I'm getting a 17'er this fall...)

I built two 12' long 1" dia. Fiberglass poles to use on my 22' toon and they work good in 8' of water in winds up to 15mph. Anything over 15mph I'm afraid they might snap. Toons are heavy in the wind.
