Skeetbum , I was tying a lot of these patterns on a size 10 2x long nymph hook with a bead head for use with the flyrod . I just tied them using jigs for use with the spinning rod and float . When the tennis elbow flares up , I switch over to the UL spinning . I've got to where I really like seeing that float disappear .
BTW , since switching over to the float and micro jigs , I've caught my biggest ever crappie , several nice channel cats , pound size golden shiners , and all kinds of bluegills, shellcrackers , and redbreast .
With the float rig , the fly/jig stays in front of the fish longer . With a little ripple on the water , you can catch fish just by casting and let the wind and bobber add the action to the jig . Gillchaser
