Good ideas about the nets and thanks for spreading the word. We will definitely avoid running any nets over this coming weekend. I know it'll be a zoo out there.

We had debated posting some signs at some of the ramps. I'll talk to Paul Rister about this.

Also, thanks for the invite. I am always up for a crappie fry and of course my students never miss a free meal. I'll see if I can round up a few students. Either way, would be happy to share what we have been finding and share our results.

    Mr. Flinn,

Sorry to hear about your net, I was on KY waters however don't know if it was the one I ran into. I am glad this has raised awareness all around concerning these nets. In the future I will try to avoid these areas, however I believe they can be marked better and maybe have a larger red buoy with some kinda marking on it. Anyways, hope your research goes well.

Thanks for all the info. Thanks Paul for all you do for us. Can't wait till crappie camp to meet Professor Flinn. I like the idea of using large red buoys with some advertisement. Why use gill nets?? I think a trawler with the right size net you could harvest all you want!

I think a special color of jug, or put 2 jugs together, and advertise it. Put flyers at landings, if you see this avoid it. I don't think anyone will object to getting rid of carp.

I would have went between the jugs, also. Sometimes they put out so many (not you researchers), that it's hard not to get close to some.

Bring one of your electrical engineers along (if Murray has any) so I can talk to someone who understands me.
