I just reread your comment and I always use a snap swivel on the end of my main line also, but what about using them on the ends of the other two lines for changing out jig head sizes/colors quicker? Do you think that having them there too would deter a bite?

About your original question. If you cannot get minnows and want to try something good, try Gulp Alive 3" minnows. I swear they are just as good as live minnows. I get hits all the time when i run out of minnows and use these. I always keep some handy just in case the minnow shops are out. Berkley® Gulp! Alive® Minnow | Bass Pro Shops

I have never tried using a snap swivel on the jigs. Years ago while casting jigs I tried it and it seemed to spook the fish off. In clear water I can see where it could create a problem but in murky water it might not. If you try it let us know how it works out.

Snap swivels are a little too bulky IMO. I use fasnaps. Way smaller and they make changing jigs/hooks a snap!!

I like using 10lb line with a 1/2 oz egg sinker and a snap swivel with 6lb 18" leader. jig tied on one end, loop knot on other. I have extra jigs tied on leaders for changing jigs for any reason.

Tried this on Monday afternoon but really didn't have much time and for whatever reason this spot I fish has never been a good afternoon spot. Bait shop was not open so I tried some double jig setups (jigs direct to a snap swivel) and also some of the Gulp alive minnows (smelt). Got a couple of small bites but nothing like normal. I may try to get out there early on Saturday morning and run a couple of poles with live minners and then a couple with the gulp version. Think I will probably stay away from the snap swivel on each jig.....as Cmj said they did look a bit "bulky".
